HUMBLE -not proud or haughty : not arrogant or assertive.
In the world of business its hard to keep your head on straight. Though our parents often taught us to be humble, sometimes there is the need to assert ones capacity.
Its harder for women. From the get go, we are already carrying a stigma of being the lower, weaker gender. In my world of construction, its even more so. I had to personally fight to defend my position within the business and with regards to suppliers and customers. To this day its still my reality.
But I'm more than happy to have moments of learning. Sometimes being in an offensive stance too often makes me forget to let go. To let things be. Theres a place to fight and a time to let things weed out on its own. It poses a challenge for me to do even more.
In my efforts to advance, I do forget to look back and just breathe. I forget the thank the Lord for all those steps I was able to take. How I couldnt have made a single stride without His grace. Not by my own efforts at all.
So who am I to carry on in arrogance? Humility is a lesson we keep learning in life.
Deuteronomy 8:2-3
Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands. He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.
